Biography

Ms Lena Foo is a Registered Teacher of the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) and had taught RAD Classical Ballet Syllabi since 1997. She had trained numerous students, achieving Distinctions for their exams, including the highest level, the RAD Advanced 2 level. Lena is also a Mentor for the RAD Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies (RAD CBTS). She has trained numerous teachers for the RAD CBTS programme, and now they had completed and appointed as the Registered Teachers of the RAD. Under her directions, some of them had received the Dancepointe RAD CBTS Sponsorship.

In addition to her ballet-teaching portfolio, Lena is also a Teaching Member of the Jazz Syllabi – Australian Teachers of Dancing International (ATODI). In her years at Dancepointe Academy, she has set the directions for the school in pursuing Dance as an Education. Bi-Annually, Dancepointe leads teams for The Overseas Dance Tour Programme, and to destinations such as Sydney, Hong Kong, Melbourne, London, New York City and Barcelona. In 2011, one of her students was selected during the visit to Central Ballet School (London) to join their Bachelor Dance Programme. Bi Annual Concerts were also put up in theatres for the students’ exposure. In the years of 2011- 2016, Dancepointe Senior Apprentice Group and soloists had won themselves mainly the first and second positions awards in CSTD Asia Pacific and Singapore Dance Competitions under the leadership of Lena.

Lena founded Dancepointe @ Taman Jurong in December 2005, as the flagship studio. New schools sprang up later on. Subsequently, under the brand name of Dancepointe, Ballet, Jazz and Hip-hop courses started running in various regions of Singapore and Pre-School Centres.

Lena began learning Classical Ballet at the age of 5 under Ms June Lee, and later on, she furthered her dance training in Jazz under a highly regarded Jazz Teacher in the dance arena, Mr Derrick Ee. She had also represented People’s Association Jazz Dance Group and performed extensively. Other projects include Mediacorp Channel 5 and Channel 8 Variety and Drama series.

Although primarily trained in Classical Ballet, Lena’s passion for dancing has led her to explore various dance facets, incorporating a myriad of styles ranging from Classical Ballet to Jazz and Contemporary dance. Her past choreographies include Mediacorp Channel 8 Drama Show, Jurong Lake Park Opening Ceremony – “Coppelia” and National Day Parade at Jurong – “The Dancing Dolls”

Ms Lena Foo holds a Bachelor Degree in Business (Marketing Major, Applied Economics Minor) from Nanyang Technological of University. She pursued a Marketing position in F&B industry before setting up the Dancepointe Education Group.
