Biography
Ms Kok Huishi started dancing at a tender age of 5 and completed all The Royal Academy Of Dance (RAD) Graded and Vocational Examinations till Advanced 2. She had received the Shell Scholarship Award, The Royal Academy of Dance Scholarship Award as well as The Singapore Dance Theatre–APB Foundation Dance Scholarship
In Years 1992, 1994, 1998 and 2000, Huishi was privileged to be selected through auditions to perform in “Nutcracker’ and “Coppelia” with Singapore Dance Theatre.
In 1994, Huishi was also awarded the Royal Academy of Dance – OKH Senior Scholarship for the most outstanding student in Singapore RAD summer school. Once again she won Royal Academy of Dance – OKH Scholarship in 1995. She was fully sponsored to attend RAD summer school held in London RAD headquarters for 2 weeks.
More awards include the year 2000 Summer School Scholarship from The Commonwealth Society Of Teachers of Dancing (CSTD), which brought her to attend the prestigious Perth Festival Of Dance in which she competed and won 1st Place in Neo-classical, 1st Place in Modern Dance and 3rd Place in Classical Ballet.
Huishi has 17 years of teaching experiences in private dance schools; sending students for the RAD Ballet, CSTD Jazz and Tap exams and competitions. In addition, she taught in various Primary Schools’ Dance CCA and prepared the students for the Singapore Youth Festival such as the years of 2010 and 2012. Her choreography’s had extensively showcased for the Bi-Annual Ballets Concerts to National events such as Youth Olympic Games and National Day Parade.
She earned The Royal Academy Of Dance Teaching Certificate with Distinction and a Royal Academy of Dance Mentor in Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies (CBTS). Huishi had prepared many young aspiring students to become qualified teachers.
She has joined Dancepointe Education Group as a Senior Ballet Mistress and promoted to Deputy Head for the Classical Ballet Curriculum Department, working hand in hand with our Artistic Director, Ms Lena Foo.
She is also leading Dancepointe’s Apprentice team in Yio Chu Kang Dancepointe for past five years (2015 – 2019) and students under her tutelage had achieved winnings in both local like ( Get The Beat, WBGP, Masterpiece, CSTD) and overseas competitions (YAGP, HKKCCDC, AGP) for troupes and solo items. She is also one of the core teachers leading “The Apprentice Company” preparing students for Pre-Professional training as well as the Apprentice teams in subsequent years
