Congratulations to the Competition and Performance TEAMdpa 2017 who had competed in the recent 19th CSTD Asia Pacific and Singapore Dance Competitions! Our dedicated dancers with the creative choreographies by our very own DPA Teachers had earned over 77 awards, including our team of 160 dancers who were all placed in our 10 Group Items!

DPA Care and Share Programme 2017

Dancepointe Academy (DPA) Care and Share Week – Dance, Give & Joy

Dancepointe Academy (DPA) organises a Care and Share Week on 28th November until 7th December 2017.  In conjunction with this, DPA collaborates with Community Chest Singapore to bring Dance Education to 20 underprivileged families with teens ranging from 12-20 years old – our Guest Dancers. During this period, DPA will be hosting a 4-day Performing Arts Enrichment Camp entailing various dance genres such as Lyrical, Jazz Funk and KPOP for the Guest dancers and DPA Students.  DPA aims to provide an insight into the life of a dancer with a Showcase at the end of the camp on the 2nd Dec. During this event, DPA will select 6 outstanding Guest Dancers to be given ONE year of Scholarship Classes with DPA.

In addition to the 4-days camp, the Guest Dancers, and their parent accompany are invited to watch a favourite Christmas Classic, “The Nutcracker” together with Dancepointe Families happening on 7th December 2017 at The Esplanade, this performance is by our renowned dance company: Singapore Dance Theatre.

2500 DPA Donation Cards will be given out during this period to all our DPA families. The proceeds will be given to the beneficiaries under Community Chest such as Rotary Family Service Centre and Care Corner for their education funds as well as The Nutcracker Excursion Tickets for our Guest Dancers and families.

This event is open into two (2) categories –

Junior Group – Guest dancers age 12yo & DPA Grade 3 to Grade 6 Year 1 Students

Senior Group– Guest dancers age 13-20yo & DPA Grade 6 Year 2 and above Students

DPA would like to extend this act of love by offering a limited number of spaces to our own Dancepointe family members to come and dance with the Guest Dancers to make new friends and also to share their experience as a dancer. There will be a costume charge of $40/- per student for the 2nd Dec showcase, and we would like to encourage you to sponsor a guest dancer as well; this donation will be used to sponsor one guest dancer with their costume, accessory, and makeup during the camp and showcase. You can make this contribution in the DPA Donation Card and indicate the purpose.

DPA Students can choose only ONE (1) genre among Lyrical, KPOP or JazzFunk. DPA students, who are interested in registering for this Dance Camp, please register online at by clicking on the above 1 dance genre in the camp schedules! Only limited to first 9 Junior/10 Senior DPA students per dance genre/per slot. (We encourage you to sign up fast as there are limited spaces available!)

The 4-day camp will end with a Showcase of Guest Dancers and DPA students in front of their family members.

The Nutcracker Excursion, in Conjunction with DPA Care and Share Week

Join us for an evening at “The Nutcracker” Performance by Singapore Dance Theatre (SDT) together with our Guest dancers and families!

Dancepointe Academy has organised a Parent and Child Excursion to The Esplanade Theatre on 7th December 2017, Thursday to enjoy ‘The Nutcracker’ ballet performance together, presented by home-grown dance company SDT.

Christmas is on giving and sharing. We look forward to our 2500 DPA Family Members to donate generously via our DPA Donation Cards as part of the proceeds will go to this Nutcracker Excursion for these underprivileged families.

Excursion Program:

Jigsaw Colouring – Each student needs to colour an A5 sizes picture, after colouring, we will combine all the paper and form an A1 image. This activity not only shows proper colouring techniques but also help the students understand about teamwork. Students will have to bring along their colouring materials.

*There will be prizes to be won! They are related to Ballet and Christmas. Can you guess what they are?

TEAMdpa is proud to be part of 19th CSTD SINGAPORE DANCE COMPETITION at ACJC 1st- 9th Sept 2017!

There are a total 180 participates for this exciting competition with various dance genres such as Classical Ballet, Lyrical Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz and Hip Hop.

Thank you CSTD for this wonderful opportunity for the dancers to flourish their talents and we look forward to the learning journey on stage.

CSTD is holding their annual Asia Pacific Dance Competition for the 19th time; this time in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Dancepointe Academy is proud to be sending our Apprentice Team and mvAVE TEAM of 60 Ballet and Hip hop students to partake in this competition, along with multiple other countries. This gives them an opportunity so compete in a more diverse environment, observe new teams and make new friends!

As we celebrate our Nation’s Day on 9th August, together with Dancepointe Academy’s faculties i.e. Dance Factory ( School for KPOP Dance), dACADEMY ( School of Contemporary Dance) and 5th AVENUE ( School of Jazz and Street Dance), IMPEL 2017 is going to be a crazy one for all dance enthusiasts whom wants to try out all the classes we have!

We are also happy to have our Guest Teacher from Sydney Dance Company, Mr Zac Jaffar, to share with us  his unique style in Lyrical Jazz!

We are extremely proud of all our 300 students who joined us in this big production, without which, wouldn’t have been possible without all your help and support. With the 3 months of rehearsals and all dedication from our Parents, Students and Teachers, we are proud to be awarded as the “Most Lively Contingent”! Dancepointe Academy is also proud to be the only school with a Mass Display Item, and our Float, proudly sponsored by POSB Bank, was awarded as the “The Best Float”!

Guests of Honour for the Event : President of Singapore Mr Tony Tan, PM Mr Lee Hsien Loong and various ministers from the Parliament.

DPA is opening at SAFRA Jurong this March!!
Together with our Kidz Education City (KEC) members, Dancepointe Academy is holding a Visual and Performing Arts March Holiday Camp!
Each child will receive a Certificate of Achievement at the end of the camp.
To register, drop us an email at enquiries@kecity.com.sg with your child’s name, age, date of interest and contact number.
You may pay for the $150 camp fees at any of our DPA branches!

9 Days 8 Nights Seoul Dance Exchange Programme – Universal Ballet Company and Sunhwa Arts School

As part of Dancepointe Academy DPA’s objectives in delivering Overseas Exchange opportunities, we are pleased to bring a total of 42 DPA students from our Grade 6 to Advanced level to Korea; Seoul, from the 11th to 19th December 2016, for a dance exchange programme. This programme is a highlight for our whole year’s programme, besides the Dance Educational tours to Singapore Dance Theatre and The Esplanade.  We are pleased to have such great opportunities with these prestigious dance company and institution for an exchange. Through this exchange, we will achieve the following objectives:

  • Experience and exposure of receiving classes in internationally renowned dance companies and schools. Universal Ballet Company (UBC), Universal Ballet Academy (UBA) and Sunhwa Arts School.
  • Expose dancers to the unique dance culture in Korea. Explore Seoul Arts Centre
  • Provide great inspiration to our students
  • Enhance friendships and bonding among DPA and Korean dance students
  • Visits to places of interests such as Seoul Tower, Hongik University Street, Shinchon Fashion streets, Myeongdong, Dongdaemum, and  Namsan Hanok Village
*Highlight : Sunhwa Arts students will be dancing together with DPA students and foster good learning experiences together.

Universal Ballet Company is based in Seoul, Korea with dancers and staff from more than a dozen countries throughout Europe, the US and Asia. UBC embodies the blending of the grace and harmony of Asian culture with the strength and beauty of western ballet. Dedicated to preserve the rich tradition of European classical ballet and following the trends in contemporary choreography, the company continues to be the leading force of ballet in Korea.

Sunhwa Arts School offers a 6-year program of study that includes a fully accredited middle and high school academy program with pre-professional course in Ballet. Sunhwa’s ballet program is based on the Vaganova method of classical Ballet, designed in the early 20th century in Russia.
